The 2016 Dick Uyvari Memorial Celebrity Bowl was May 14 at Waveland Bowl, sponsored by the Friends of the Chicago LGBT Hall of Fame, a nonprofit that raises funds for the Hall of Fame itself, the first LGBT Hall of Fame launched by a city in the world.

The event was renamed in honor of the event's founder, Dick Uyvari, who died last year. This year's event has so far raised more than $9,000, with more than 30 bowlers on the lanes Saturday.

Event co-chairs were Kathy Caldwell and Darrick Johnson. Other event organizers included Israel Wright, Jr., Gary Chichester, Mary Morten, Suzanne Arnold, Tracy Baim, Megan Carney and Vincent Pagan.

Sponsors of the LGBT Hall of Fame include Sam Coady, Phil Hannema, Michael Leppen, Richard Pfeiffer and Timothy K. Frye, Bill Pry, Richard Turner, Rick Aguilar Studios, Ann Sather Restaurant, BOI Magazine, Center on Halsted, Chicago History Museum, ChicagoPride.com, Grab Magazine, Hall's, House of Blues, International Mr. Leather, J&L Catering, Morten Group, Napleton's Northwestern, Sidetrack, Supergurl Images, Waveland Bowl and Windy City Times.
